Fortress Biotech, Inc. (“Fortress”) is seeking applicants for our Fortress Business Development Program. The Fortress Business Development Program offers a unique, full-time opportunity for qualified individuals who want to participate in the biopharmaceutical revolution. These individuals will work to identify and evaluate novel therapeutic candidates for further development, as well as network and build relationships with key opinion leaders.

Responsibilities Include, but Not Limited To:

  • Identify clinical stage developmental medicines for acquisition or license with key academic, corporate and other entities involved in therapeutic research programs
  • Create and maintain important scientific and business relationships with key opinion leaders
  • Keep up to date with scientific advancement (e.g. competitive situation, new technologies) and stay well-informed about current regulatory (FDA, etc.) requirements and trends
  • Actively participate in new business development
  • Represent Fortress at medical and scientific meetings and conferences

Job Description:
Process all accounts payable invoices and perform various accounting tasks for Fortress and assigned subsidiaries.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform inter-company accounting duties related to operating expenses, shared services & various expense allocations; (rent, legal, benefits, etc.)
  • Manage all AP related on-line payments/direct debits.
  • Audit expense reports for accuracy, approval & compliance. Prepare and execute file upload into accounting system.
  • Back up for weekly payment runs and daily cash reconciliation.
  • Create approved purchase orders and help maintain them in the accounting system.
  • Assist the finance team with various SEC and IRS filings (1099’s, 10K’s, etc.)
  • Verify SOX compliance for all AP related contracts and agreements.
  • Maintain AP SOX narrative and update as needed. Assist with coordinating and responding to various audit requests with internal/external auditors.

Accounts Payable:

  • Manage the AP mailboxes for Fortress and assigned subsidiaries (Daily)
  • Save all invoices received via the AP mailbox out on the shared drive.
  • Verify PO’s and obtain proper coding for all invoices.
  • Book all AP invoices for Fortress and assigned subsidiaries into accounting system.
  • Ensure approvals are obtained and attached to all invoices prior to payment

Assist with human resource tasks upon request:

  • Backup for reviewing and approving bi-monthly payroll reports.
  • Set up new states for payroll tax withholdings as needed.

Participate as needed in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

  • Safety and security - the individual must observe all safety and security procedures when using company equipment and materials.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office atmosphere. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and other office equipment.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
40 hours per week. (Hybrid working environment)
No travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or Associates degree with 2 years of relevant experience required
Prior accounts payable experience is required.
Prior experience with Sage 50 or a similar accounting system is desired but not necessary.
